Rustic Performance:
Cedar is the natural choice because of its beauty, practicality and durability. The Rustic Natural Cedar Company uses only the finest cedar to create furniture that lasts for generations. It is naturally resistant to decay, insect and weather damage. Because of this superior resistance, cedar is frequently used for outdoor fencing, and siding on homes. Cedar has an exceptionally high strength-to-weight ratio, which means that it is both durable and easy to move about. It does not shrink or wrap as many other woods commonly do. Unlike pressure-treated wood furniture, The Rustic Natural Cedar Company uses no chemical preservatives that may be harmful to your family’s health.
The Rustic Natural Cedar Company uses two types of cedar – Northern White Cedar for the indoor and outdoor furniture for its creamy white color and enduring strength, and Western Red Cedar for the outdoor garden products such as arbors and trellises. When left untreated, over time white cedar weathers gracefully to a silvery gray, or it can be stained to match any décor.
All cedars log furniture is subject to the natural process of checking as wood “seasons”. Checking occurs as wood releases moisture across or through the annual growth rings and it does not affect the structural performance or integrity of the wood.

Few Known Facts About Cedar
As being referred to by the Aborigines as the tree of life, the cedar tree is apart of the Pine family. These trees grow rather slowly to heights of about 40 feet tall and their width may get as wide as 15 feet. They are native in the mountainous areas of Africa and Asia and can be found naturally in North America. Cedar is highly resistant to weathering, and will last many decades outdoors without being susceptible to rotting and decay. Cedar can be left unfinished and untreated. The natural weathering process will transform this beautiful wood into a pleasant gray color. To maintain the original rich color of the wood, it is necessary to us a protective coating.
Eastern Red- This tree produces an aromatic red colored wood that is used in construction, and furniture industries. These beautiful trees can reach a height of nearly 100 feet tall. Instead of having one main trunk, the cedar can have branches that split off. It also has leaves that can be very deep dark green, or extremely light green.
Northern White- A medium-sized evergreen tree with scale-like leaves in flattened "sprays" that typically are aligned vertically. Wood is soft, light-colored, durable and aromatic. The first tree exported from North America to Europe. Tolerates moderately well drained soil; thrives in marshy, (moist) loam and full sun. Cedar swamps provide good winter habitat and food for deer. Its mature height is around 70 feet tall. Seed Source: New Hampshire.
The common white cedar of the North is a native of moist situations in the mountains of Virginia. It is planted extensively as an ornamental tree. In its northern habitat it reaches a height of 70 feet and a diameter of 3 to 4 feet. The trunk is often twisted, and frequently divided into two or more erect stems. The branches are short and horizontal. Trees sometimes form almost impenetrable thickets, as the dead branch-Cs are very stiff. In the open it develops a conical, symmetrical crown.
The wood is light, soft, brittle, coarse-grained, durable, fragrant, pale brown. It is used in the northern states for fence posts, railroad ties and shingles. There are numerous ornamental or garden varieties of the arborvitae. One closely related to it is the Oriental arborvitae; also extensively planted for ornamental purposes.
The leaves are scale-like, 1/8 of an inch long and are so arranged as to make the small branches flat. They have an aromatic odor when crushed and a pleasant taste.

Few Known Facts About Eucalyptus
There are 800 species of Eucalyptus ranging from small herbs to large trees in heights of 400 feet in their native habitats. These trees are also known as gum trees because of the fragrant gum like substance that is exuded from the trees usually to fight off insects and tree pests. These trees have leathery, smooth, lance-shaped leaves, which have a more rounded shape when young. Their puffball-like flowers may be red or orange and are very attractive to bees. They have no petals, but instead, numerous stamens arising from a capsule-like calyx, which give them their fluffy appearance. The attractive, colorful bark of the stems and trunks of the Eucalyptus may be dappled in gray, green, russet, or cream and may peel in sheets. Besides the decorative qualities of the trees, Eucalyptus are valued for their timber, the important oils of the leaves and shoots, tannin, which is taken from the bark of some varieties, and a resinous substance known as Kino. E. Parvifolia is a beautiful, medium-sized species that has beautifully colored, peeling bark. At maturity, the leaves are small, slender, and blue-green. This species tolerates alkaline soil. E. Citriodora (Lemon-scented gum) is a large, quick-growing tree with smooth, white bark and lemon-scented leaves. E. Coccifera (Tasmanian snow gum) is a large tree with bloomy (bloom is a powdery, waxy substance sometimes covering plants) leaves and stems, not evident in young plants. The bark peels to reveal a white trunk. E. Ficifolia (Red flowering gum) is a medium-sized plant with clusters of beautiful, feathery, red flowers up to a foot long. E. Pauciflora subsp. niphophila (Snow gum) is a small, fairly slow-growing tree that is covered in large, leathery, grayish-green leaves. The multi-colored trunk has been compared to the skin of a python with its green, gray, and cream bark.
