We cut through the version confusion to help you find the correct replacement control board for the LA400, by simplifying how you can find replacement boards. The boards we sell are designed to work with all gate openers of the specific generation, CAUTION - not all boards offered on the internet are 100% compatible even if they are of the same generation, ours are guaranteed to be compatible with all versions of the indicated generation.

Blue - Replacement for All Versions of Generation 1

The Generation 1 Control Board is compatible with the light gray LiftMaster LA500 arm, see the blue control board visual below. This serves as a replacement board for all the boards within Generation 1, which were manufactured prior to July 2014. The Generation 1 Control Board is not compatible with MYQ technology and it does not have a digital display. Therefore, the LiftMaster LA500 light gray arm is not compatible with the Generation 2 or 3 board.

If you are replacing a generation 1 control board (It is easy to tell, the old LiftMaster board is blue and the new one is green), you will need new MAX series remotes and keypad to replace your current LiftMaster products. You can also purchase a 312HM Receiver to utilize your current remotes and keypads.

LiftMaster Control Board Generation 1

Green - Generation 2

The Generation 2 Control Board was introduced July 2014. This board serves as a replacement for all boards in that generation. The Generation 2 Control Board is green and is compatible with the LiftMaster LA500 arm that is charcoal gray with a burgundy stripe.

If you are replacing a Generation 1 Control Board you will need to replace the whole control box, as well remotes and accessories.

This board has MyQ connectivity built in allowing you to monitor your opener right from your smart phone. You will need to purchase the 828LM Internet Gateway separately in order to use MyQ connectivity.

LiftMaster Control Board Generation 2

Burgandy - Generation 3

The Generation 3 Control Board K1D8388-1CC was introduced in January 2016. This control board is burgundy and is compatible with the LiftMaster LA500 arm that is charcoal gray with a burgundy stripe. It has a two digit LED display with spots to plug in the arms. The Generation 3 Control Board is also MYQ compatible. It must have compatible photo eyes connected for this board to operate.
