These remotes are used to activate linear products remotely. The linear products will, in turn, activate the gate opener. The reason for not activating the gate opener directly is some people like the security of the Mega-Code remote. Others like the features of some of the linear products. For example, the AP-5 has 2 relays and can delete one remote without having to change the others. The RE-1 and RE-2 can do that as well and also keep a log of remotes used to enter. Linear’s MegaCode® series of digital transmitters are wireless radio controls designed for use with MegaCode format receivers. The MegaCode radio format provides unparalleled security. Each transmitter is pre-set at the factory to one of over 1,000,000 codes.

The AP-5’s programmable relays make it suitable for environments where you need to control more than one entry, such as a vehicular and a pedestrian gate. The new model also features a programmable access relay activation time, from one to 120 seconds. For swing and slide gates, up to six Linear Model MGT safety edge transmitters that can be assigned for entrapment detection to trigger obstacle outputs.

The AP-5 also is good for use in environments where RF noise or wireless signal interference can be a problem. The controller features a built-in, high-sensitivity, narrowband 318-MHz superheterodyne receiver with an external antenna that can pick up signals from a Linear MegaCode® block-coded transmitter from up to 500 feet away. A whip antenna is supplied as standard, or Linear’s EXA-2000 directional antenna and EXA-1000 omnidirectional antenna are available as options for improved performance.

Each AP-5 supports up to 480 Linear MegaCode® factory block-coded and custom block-coded transmitters. Each of the 480 remote transmitters can be programmed with just a few keystrokes, and since there are no dip switches to set, it is easy to add and suspend transmitters. Including Linear’s MDKP exterior wireless keypads as part of the access control system means you can use any combination of up to 238 individual transmitters and/or MDKP keypad entry codes.

Cool Feature: This receiver has two relays to open two gate openers or gate openers plus a device paired with keypads or remotes. The installer can choose which relay to control via remote or code used in the keypad. This feature works when paired with the MDKP keypad.

Controlled Open/Close
You can open and close your gate at a particular time with the gate timer via a programming sequence which allows you to open at a preset time and close at a preset time. The timer allows for this to be either: weekday only, 7-days a week, single day or a combination of the three.

Inactive Accessories Function
You can make accessories like automatic entry or exit through loop or auto-sensor inactive during “off” hours. For example during evening hours some users wish to have automatic access off to create a more secure environment. Manager Opening / Auto-Reclose
This setting allows a manager to open the gate at a particular time with the gate remaining open until a preset auto-close time. Have the gate open only after an authorized individual has activated the gate but subsequently after close at a particular time. This function works great for commercial establishments like lumber yards or car lot.

Complete Gate Lockout Times
Use this function of the timer to make the gate opener access completely disabled during off hours without shutting down the system and possibly losing programming. During evening hours some users wish to have all access off limits through a particular gate, such as an auxiliary gate. It has built-in security because it programs the gate to not reopen at a certain period of time but still close if already opened.
